Bryce Canyon National Park offers natural delights for visitors of all ages. The park is home to three distinct climatic zones because of the rise of 2,000 in elevation, including a spruce and fir forest, a Ponderosa Pine forest, and a Pinyon Pine and juniper forest. Because of this biodiversity, visitors may see members of over 100 species of birds, dozens of mammals, and more than a thousand plant species. The famous spires of Bryce Canyon, called "hoodoos," are formed when ice and rainwater wear away the limestone, and have created a magical, wondrous setting for visitors over the years.
Cedar Breaks National Monument is a colorful, visual delight. Resting on top of the Colorado plateau, at over 10,000 feet in elevation, a stunning array of warm rainbow hues greets visitors, which are owed to mineral deposits that have built up over eons. Millions of years of sedimentation, uplift, and erosion are carving out this giant amphitheater, which spans some three miles, and is more than 2,000 feet deep. On clear days, views stretching all the way to Nevada are visible. During spring and summer, the Alpine-like meadows on the plateau become filled with grasses and brightly colored wildflowers. In winter, visitors enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile trails.
Contrary to its name, winter visitors will rarely find any "white stuff" at this 7,100-acre desert park. This scenic park is named after Lorenzo and Erastus Snow, early Utah leaders.
Lake Powell, the second largest reservoir in North America, is 186 miles/299 kilometers long and has 1,960 miles/3058 kilometers of shoreline.
